Terrible Tues(day)

Today isn't a terrible day at all. Inspiration for the topic title came from reading PurpleRamblings blog. She posted about her 4 year old child having OCD. Don't ask me where I got terrible twos then terrible Tues from. It seemed cool at the time. Such is life

(For yesterday) Happy Colombus day... NOT

Yesterday was Colombus Day in the Americas. Don't know how they celebrate it or how big it is. Estelle tweeted this interesting article on the most famous pirate in history

I'll let Burning Spear deal with him (live in a festival in Paris. Look pon (the amount of) people)

Want brains AND beauty?

"Don't look any further. Way-oh umbawayo joombi joom-bi-yo." Christiana returns with yet another vlog I fully live by. Nuff man hype, go back to them a bit later and they've got a next hype. Me: "What happened to the last hype?" Them: "Madness bruv. Long story. You down for this one though?" As a great man once said: "Actions speak louder than words". The great man I'm speaking of in this instance is Bounty Killer (click here for big soundclash tune)

Can't take @Bangsandabun for friggin Tina Turner

The mission of PR company 'The Mission': convince a blogger to embark on a half marathon, blogging their preparation and bere tings all for Nokia. Sadly, someone never kept to their half or 3/4s of the deal. Read the whole breakdown here and read the comments, The Mission's response in particular

Unite the raver (with one-liners) inspired by QoS and Wiley's twitter

Now I know what you're thinking. And you're probably right. This isn't another bash UK Funky points. Wiley kept tweeting "unite the raver" over the weekend. Turns out it's a new one-liner courtesy of UK Funky host/MC Ramzee. I like the way people used it on Twitter. I'm actually surprised they're still banging out one-liners. I understand going in with metaphors and deep lyrical content about the secret society (we all know about sshhhh... *looks around* *double-checks* *whispers* "illuminati") doesn't sit right on funky, but So Solid used to go in with bars. Heartless still have sing-alongs. I haven't heard sing-alongs from UK Funky that haven't been based around a one-liner (a one-liner is where an MC/Host repeats a trademark phrase like "Are you gonna bang" at the end of every bar) apart from Ver-sa-tiiiile (aka Mr Motivator). Why not? Am I not listening to the right people? Also anyone know if Coldsteps has new bars? I liked his one-liners in 08.

His track 'Who's that lighty' is doing the rounds. You already know what how the lyrics go from the title. Not saying its necessarily a bad thing, #JustSaying.

WTF of the day? Chris Brown whines to Mr Vegas 'Gallis' spotted @ThatGrapeJuice tweet on this site

Yes you read correctly.

Original Video- More videos at TinyPic

Probably aware of him performing in Jamaica this year right?

p.s. I saw something a bit more WTF of the Day worthy but I ain't posting that here (Raz B and Batman aka Marques Houston)

Video of the Month: Ciara song title is irrelevant cos damn she can dance

Not as good as Ride It for obvious reasons. Still a really good video though. I'd like to see her perform and sing (well whatever Ciara does) this. Ha! Also, I can't be the only one thinking the holograms at the end was an Aaliyah tribute type thing with Aaliyah super-imposed in the vid until I clocked it was Ciara

Director Mo Ali turns (Let The) Sunshine to (Singing In The) Rain

May have seen an earlier post where I pointed out the similarity between Labrinth's (Labrinth pointed out there isn't a Y) 1Xtra Live outfit and Gene Kelly's: "Wearing a navy blue trench coat, black bucket hat and khaki's. He looked like the Singing In The Rain dude singing Let The Sunshine (with the obvious melanin difference)" from my 1Xtra Live MeView. I'm sure I sighted Mo there. Perhaps he thought the same thing (or catted my post - not really). Anyway, here's the result:

Real Badman Never Afraid: Lighthouse Family 'High'

Heard this in the sun on Sunday. Quality tune especially in the sun. Hold tight Tunde. One of the greatest dudes that sounds like a good singer, but isn't really. Notice he stays in one key? Soothing tone blinds us.

Tinie Tempah Discovery

Big shouts to Tinie Tempah shifting over 85k albums in its debut week. This documentary is really good. To think he has gone from the guy people doubted and touted others as better signings to becoming (arguably) the most credible solo artist of this generation. He is in company with Coldplay and Amy Winehouse (oh and Cheryl Cole) as the dude all foreigners say they'd like to work with.

What's That Smell x Tune of the day: Magnetic Man featuring Katy B - Crossover

Bet you read "Magnetic Man" thought: "Here we go", then rolled your eyes when you saw "Katy B", but got caught out if you thought I'd be posting Perfect Stranger again. I really can not get enough of this combination. Katy B sits on dubstep like a woman with a big arse (in a good way) riding in a Range Rover/Bentley on leathers; extra comfort and luxurious.

Cool or Fool? Finally Breakin' in church?

Is he a fool for break dancing in church or is it the result of getting in the spirit?

Marvin Sparks x Raekwon interview

Wu-Tang's in-house "Chef" better known as Raekwon proved he is still a force to be mentioned alongside the hottest rappers in the hip hop game with the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx... pt. II - sequel to his 1995 debut album. Marvin Sparks caught up with the hip hop legend to discuss rapping for drug dealers, people caring "more about stats than raps", his inclusion in MTV's Top 10 Hottest Rappers list, and converting to Islam. Marvin Sparks: It has been almost fifteen years since the first Only Built For Cuban Linx, an album that was a 5-mic classic when The Source magazine held weight. Why did you decide make a sequel?

Why Cheetah Woods, whhyyyy?!?!?!

We must all know about the predator nyamin woman (no bowcat reference intended - or am I lying? *shudders*). Anyone heard the voicemail he left for the girl he's been PARrin (there was a golf reference there) his wife with? Easy now my selekta as we rinse some tunes for di one name Tiger. Man like him doesn't know how to play. (By The Endz not Ruff Sqwad) How you gonna leave a voicemail for a girl with your real name at the beginning? Do you want to be held to ransom? Man from 'the ends' know (in the words of Kano) "That's slippin'!" And when isht hits the fan (like it has) he's buggered. Not something I deal in but surely the point of cheating is for an assortment of ladies. All his ones look the same; blonde, no breast nor batty. Rachel Uchitel bawlin at the scene of 9/11 where her man (fiancee/boyfriend/husband) died The chick whose sold his voicemail on and can be heard above The wifey (why cheat on her with the ones above I'll never kno

Remember When Riddims Were King

Before you read, thank you for your interest and hope you enjoy. I actually fleshed it out into a book. You can get your copy from www.nolongstories.com   Now for what you came here for... When Riddims Were King 23rd May 2020 will be remembered in history for one of the most epic events in one of our universe's darkest times. We will never forget the night dancehall kings and former extremely heated rivals, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, battled on the Verzuz platform built by hall-of-fame producers, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. An unfiltered, 360-degree view on Jamaican dancehall events was showcased; DJ’s and dancing (Beenie Man’s daughter Desha Ravers) to deejay’s clashing on the same riddims. The latter elements provided the jewels in the night’s highlight reel, and undoubtedly the best thing to happen on the Verzuz series. Word spread like guava jelly within the dancehall community and Jamaican diaspora upon announcement. Not only was it a clash between the longest and fier
